480 x 320 pixel iPhone Camera March 27th, 2008

The iPhone sports the most attractive display of any mobile device of its size, bar none. While its 160ppi resolution might not quite earn the label "photorealistic," the vivid 3.5-inch display does run at 480 x 320 pixel resolution (160 dots per inch), making it one of the highest pixel-density mobile devices on the market today. You may find that all other mobile devices pale in comparison. iPhone is the sort of dazzling, revolutionary device that you'll be unable to resist

Photographs always make iPhone seem much larger than it is in real life. Measuring 2.4 inches wide by 4.5 inches tall and 0.46 inches thick, the iPhone is surprisingly diminutive. The specs for the iPhone's built-in camera are these: it's 2Mp with no zoom.

Accessing and using the camera couldn't be any simpler - from the home screen just tap the camera icon. When the camera opens there is one button to push to take a picture and one to see any pictures you've already taken. Tap the button and you'll see an animated shutter closing and opening. Nice touch on Apple's part.

The iPhone camera works best at moderate light and is great at capturing stealthy candid shots, which are the best ones, I think. In low light, however, the iPhone's pictures are grainy, so hold your camera very still if you want to get a decent picture.Hold your iPhone camera still in low light.

Self-portrait pictures are feasible with the iPhone's camera, but you have to learn some muscle memory to remember where the virtual 'shutter release' is on the iPhone. Perhaps, a future option for controlling the iPhone's camera would use the home key as the shutter release.

When you connect the iPhone to your computer, iPhoto or Aperture opens, sees the phone as another camera, and imports the photos for you - that's a handy feature. But it becomes less handy when one of those apps launches whether you have photos or not - that's happened to a few people I know.

One other thing about the camera - there's no flash. So if you're shooting in low-light situations, your images will suffer.

Since Gmail uses Google's search facilities you are able to locate your emails quickly and easily.

Those of you who own an Apple iPhone are no doubt wondering how your Gmail account can be integrated with your iPhone to allow the viewing of your emails to be literally as easy as looking at your iPhone screen.

Your first step in this process is to log into your Gmail account and enable IMAP. After logging in, go to "Settings". After that, next click on "Forwarding" and "POP/IMAP", and finally click on "Enable IMAP".

It is possible to access your Gmail account by adding a protocol called IMAP to your iPhone. This application allows you to check your Gmail account using any offline email reader. Can Iphone run Linux? March 20th, 2008
Author : nancy.smith

Linux ran on the iPod and I hope it runs on the iPhone too - imagine the possibilities... If this becomes a reality it could do amazing things for its reputation, mobile computing and the Linux mobile market. This could be a big event if someone gets it to work.

Windows Mobile, Palm OS, Linux, and Symbian currently power the world’s smartphones. How does each stack up against Apple’s OS X in the iPhone? This article presents an overview of Linux.

The use of Linux for mobile devices is similar to Apple's approach in using a version of its desktop Mac OS X on the iPhone. The biggest difference between Linux and OS X in mobile development is that OS X is only available to Apple. For open source advocates, this raises issues about freedom of control, access to code, and the development potential available to third parties.

Neither OS X nor Linux was designed expressly for mobile use either; both are designed to provide general purpose computing environments. Mac OS X's userland comes from all over; it uses a large amount of GNU software, including the GCC compiler. In Tiger, Apple adopted the typical Linux bash command line shell instead of the previous default of tsch.

The goals of the iPhone-Linux project are to port the full 2.6.x Linux operating system to the Apple iPhone, to create a system whereby users can easily use Linux on their iPhone, and to facilitate interoperability between Linux and Darwin/ARM.

iphone Ringtones March 20th, 2008

Apple has always prided itself in developing systems and software that attract the unconventional segment of the masses. And therefore, it comes as no surprise that they have gone a long way in personalizing the mobile phone ring tones for their iPhone; taking it beyond mere personalization and giving the users complete authority with its usage and ownership. At a price, of course.

iTunes users now are the privileged ones to have been given an opportunity to customize original sound tracks and other universal tracks to be able to create their own mobile phone ring tones for their iPhone. This new opportunity has the iPhone equipped with the iTunes ring tone maker that allows the users to choose from over half million songs made available through the iTunes Store. Users can purchase any song for 99 cents from the library that is marked with a bell indicating that it can be converted into a ring tone. Once the purchase is made, the track can be played at full length and the user has the creative freedom to choose any portion of the song, add special effects such as fade in and fade out. The final length of the desired ring tone must be of 30 seconds or less and the user is ready to download the ring tone on to his/her iPhone. The cost of purchasing this custom made ring tone is another 99 cents, thereby taking the total cost of a ring tone for the iPhone to $1.98. Apple is touting this as a cheaper option to the $2.49 for mobile ring tone purchases through other providers. The final step in the acquisition of this custom made ring tone is to sync the iPhone to the system.

Well, now that the iPhone v1.1.3 firmware has been jail broken and many Installer.app-sourced applications ported to work with the v1.1.3, we had only to wait for developers like Ambrosia Software to update their iToner ringtone maker to work with the new firmware. That day has come. Ambrosia has rolled out an iPhone v1.1.3 compatible version of their iToner software - bringing simple point-and-click ringtone uploading to the v1.1.3 crowd. The new version supports .mp3, .m4a, .wav. and .aif file types and offers other fixes and enhancements.

iToner allows you to drag-n-drop an edited MP3 or AAC file and sync it with your iPhone. A single button click uploads the audio file to the ringtone section of your iPhone.

Just in case you don't obsessively follow every word that Steve Jobs speaks (as if), the Apple CEO unveiled a software development kit for the iPhone yesterday, allowing game developers to create new titles for the popular handset. EA and Sega are already onboard, with versions of Spore and Super Monkey Ball on the way, the latter set to use the phone's accelerometer to provide tilt-based gameplay.

And let's face it, touch screen technology is what mobile gaming has been waiting out for. The mobile keypad has proved itself resolutely awful as a game controller, but a touch screen/stylus combo could work wonders for accessibility, especially with strategy and puzzle games. Picross-esque puzzler and sequels to the excellent Diner Dash and Brain Genius titles, all very much improved by the touch interface. Touch is the future for small games - Steve Jobs says so.

There are hundreds of games like this all over the net, but the main problem is that most of them aren't as good as conventional games, and to play more conventional stuff you will really need to learn to download Iphone game.

The first thing you want to consider is what type of games you want to play. If you are looking for something simple and quick to just relax for a couple of minutes, you can find java games on the Internet where there is no download required. These free iPhone games are great ways to pass the time and you never have to wait. If you want more advanced games than the ones you are finding on the Internet, do another search for free iPhone games

The only problem while making free downloads is when you go through these sites all you see are ads for other sites promoting their games. Stop looking at them and move on. These sites serve one purpose and that is to get your to click on the ads. Don't waste your time. You aren't going to find the best and most technical games this way, but you will get free iPhone games that will pass the time.

iPhone comes with Wi-Fi and EDGE network March 20th, 2008
Author : jenny.kotler

The Apple Iphone has done what most companies can only dream of. They have revolutionized the use of the cell phone. The summer launch of 2007 has made a major impact in the way people now view the cell phone market with the internet.

It is worth to mention that the Apple iPhone is fully enabled to do multi-tasking, so users can read their favorite web pages of their choice, while at the same time download the received emails in the background over Wi-Fi or EDGE.

What is Wi-Fi? Any products in our case the Apple iPhone it means the product is interoperable with other products, even if they are from different manufacturers. Thus, it gives up the independence of compatibility with to other resource products and maximize its potential.

What is EDGE? EDGE, acronym of Enhanced Data GSM Environment is a faster and the latest version of the Global System for Mobile (GSM) wireless service. The best point of the technology is that it has been designed to deliver data at rates up to 384 Kbps, which enables the delivery of multimedia and other broadband applications to mobile phone like Apple iPhone.

The iPhone compensates by being one of the few smart phones that can also use Wi-Fi wireless networks. When you have access to Wi-Fi, the iPhone flies on the Web. Not only that, but the iPhone automatically switches from EDGE to known Wi-Fi networks when it finds them, and pops up a list of new Wi-Fi networks it encounters as you move.

This is why the Iphone is here to stay. They have captured market share because they have a product that everyone now wants. They have given the world the next best thing. Now it is our turn to incorporate this device and fill up this product with anything our hearts desire. Bottom-line is despite its network limitations, the iPhone is a whole new experience and a pleasure to use.
